The core concept of the Weekender Collection is simple, the Arktis quality you expect and enjoy at work in a style and cut for downtime activities. We believe you should have the gear to complete every mission you face, whatever day of the week. This limited-edition Gabardine series of the Weekender Collection combines new and existing designs in a classic tightly woven cotton fabric with a water-resistant coating. This fabric has a long and storied history, originally used in military trench coats due to its excellent wind resistance and durability. For decades, gabardine was a staple in military-issued uniforms, valued for its lightweight comfort and breathable qualities, making it a go-to fabric in harsh environments. Over time, it became particularly popular in smocks, where its soft drape and ability to block wind made it the ideal choice for outdoor and military use. Even though synthetic Ripstop fabrics have gained dominance in recent years, especially in the uniform market, gabardine has retained a strong following for its comfort and wind resistance. For many missions, the soft, well-fitted drape of gabardine still outperforms the rigidity of ripstop fabrics. With this in mind, we combined it into the Weekender Range, designed to offer well-fitting, comfortable garments that combine function, comfort, and the lasting durability that Arktis is known for.

Tightly woven cotton for a light weight Gabardine fabric

A classic weight and finish for outdoor garments and uniforms

Is Gabardine quieter than ripstop?

Yes, thanks to its cotton weave the GABARDINE SERIES makes less noise than Ripstop fabrics.

What is Gabardine made of?

Our GABARDINE CLASSIC fabric is made from 100% cotton, making it very comfortable to wear. Soft and lightweight, draping comfortably and moving with your body.

How durable is Gabardine?

Thanks to the tight weave our Gabardine has good abrasion and tear resistance. Gabardine weaves have been used for military uniforms and outdoor clothing for decades, testament to its versatility. If you need a garment that can take more abuse, then our Ripstop options will have you covered.

What conditions is Gabardine designed for?

Any time that breathability and wind resistance are key, from hot and humid to cool and windy. Being naturally comfortable and lightweight makes it a great option under outer layers such as waterproofs, easily built into your layering system.
