GABARDINE SERIES: A staple fabric updated and revisited
The GABARDINE SERIES uses high-quality 100% cotton yarns, tightly woven into the classic gabardine weave, then finished with a DWR finish. Gabardine weaves have been a staple of outdoor clothing and uniforms for years, offering a lightweight and comfortable fabric with excellent wind-blocking capabilities due to the tight weave. With it being 100% cotton, the breathability of the fabric is still excellent. The fabric has then been enhanced with our Durable Water Resistant (DWR) finish to add even more wind and water resistance. The same weave of fabric has been seen in classic military trench coats, jackets and uniforms often preferred by soldiers, being referred to as “Army Silk”. Over time has been adopted by outdoor and high-end fashion brands. While RipStop fabrics have dominated the uniform market in recent years due to their extreme durability, some operations will favour lighter, more comfortable garments which still offer fantastic protection. This led us to develop the GABARDINE SERIES with its focus on function and versatility, giving a comfortable and well-fitting garment with the protection and quality of endurance Arktis are known for.
