Based on the C222 Ranger trousers, the C223 was modified at the request of Dutch Special Forces for their own requirements, focusing on the role of snipers. The result was a blend of combat trousers and a ghillie suit.
On the waist, a pair of side-attach braces keep the trousers situated even when weighed down with wet scrim or when crawling long distances. On the back, mesh panels are tied onto small attachment loops with shock cords to allow for scrim and foliage to be added as needed.
Each leg has a hand pocket, side cargo pocket with button closure top flap and front zip for access when kneeling or sitting in vehicles. A smaller pocket on each thigh sits just above the knee pad section and houses the knee height adjustment, tucked into the cargo pockets. At each ankle, a gusseted side zip makes wearing and adjusting over boots easier, combined with the cord adjustment and boot hook on the bottom hem.
